Taiwan's unique and comprehensive cluster of machinery industry plays a vital role in supporting Taiwan’s industrial output value, with machine tools as its primary product, since they are very competitive globally. In response to the needs of the machine tool manufacturers, ITRI entered Taichung's precision machinery industry cluster in 1995, introduced German technology, developed and launched Taiwan's first "high-speed cutting linear motor machine tool." In 2003, ITRI established the "Advanced Linear Tool Machine Industry R&D Alliance" to develop a series of high-end machine tools with linear motor technology. ITRI has since been actively promoting industry alliances and cooperation, opening up new opportunities for the high-speed and high-precision machining market.
